Tuesday, October 21st - Dub's Tea 'n Eats at 7pm - 9:00pm
Show and Tell blocks of 10 minutes: bring a project to show off!
Bring your own food, order delicious iced tea in-house
Venue is BYOB
Bring a maker friend if you like
Open!
This month we have no theme, just bring what you wanna!
Our mission is to provide an in-person meeting in a third place for like-minded humans.
NTX Makers is a group of people who enjoy making. This includes:
zinesters
trebuchet builders
potters
lasercutting machine users
CNC'ers
electronics builders
3D print people
book binders
computer hackers
painters
cosplayers
DIYers
printmakers
...and more!
We meet once a month at a location specified here, on this website. This meeting is for adults, please leave people under 18 at home.
For two hours, we have 10 minute slots for show and tell. That is, you bring in a project, show it off and tell other humans about it!
Why? Makers love new brains. Our aim is to connect makers with other people that have a similar interest. Is your partner supportive, but doesn't "get it?" Does your mom love your work but glaze over when you want to talk shop? Find brains that understand you!
Does this cost money?
No, but if we have to pay for a venue, we might ask attendees to chip in a few bucks.
How do I join?
We're extremely loose in our organization. There is no official member roll, and to be frank, we don't have an interest in maintaining one.
Soooo who's in charge?
Currently, there are a few folks in charge of organizing you might run into:
Tommy Falgout
Olivia Snyder
Andy Michaels
???
We have a few rules to follow when you attend:
Never ask another maker to create something for free. Time, materials, and experience all cost something.
Respect other persons' right to their privacy, property, and personal identity.
Persons harassing other attendees will be asked to leave.
No sales pitches! Nobody attends to be sold something.
Projects reliant on AI-generated art or text are discouraged. If you're unsure, ask an organizer.
If you've attended one of our meetings, you're welcome to join our Discord. We hope to fill it up with local makers seeking market venues, sharing contacts for volunteer opportunities, and more!
Are we on Facebook? NO! Are we on Twitter? NO! We like not being lost in a sea of digital crap. The Discord serves as a supplement to meatspace: did you forget someone's name? Want to find a local makerspace? Where is a good local place to buy mulberry paper or 3D printer hot ends? When and where is the next art market?
